Remember the last time a Colbert Report guest was a featured speaker at the Monterey Design Conference?

Exactly. It’s never happened before, but this year, thanks to a talk from Dr. Dickson Despommier–who appeared on the Colbert Report in 2008–it will.
Despommier is the director of the Vertical Farm Project and a Professor at Columbia. You can check out his conversation with Stephen Colbert on the world’s food insecurity problems, and how climate change is “the biggest issue facing the economy” below. Amazing to think this was three years back.

Need continuing education credits? At the MDC they’re a walk on the beach. (And did we mention there’s a wine tasting.) Only a few more days left to register.

Have you participated in previous Monterey Design Conference? If not, David Meckel shares what you’re missing.

Check out the video interview we grabbed with conference chair Lawrence Scarpa, FAIA on the roof of his home, the Solar Umbrella.
