Going into 2012, one of our goals for the AIACC was to strengthen our Professional Practice program. Lacking a resident staff member to concentrate primarily on design and practice issues, we recognized the need to bring more focused, skilled attention to the growing complexities of project delivery.

With this goal in mind, we are pleased to announce that Linda Derivi, AIA, has joined us as the AIACC’s Director of Design & Practice. Among other projects, she will be the staff liaison for the Professional Practice Advisory committee (a group charged to identify issues standing in the way of successful practice); coordinating advocacy efforts for Design-Build and Qualifications Based Selection outreach; developing the AIACC’s client-focused Best Practices publication; and working with our Integrated Project Delivery steering committee on educational resources for this and other alternate project delivery methodologies.

Linda has over thirty-five years of experience as an architect, which will bring valuable perspectives to our program. A UC Berkeley graduate, she is President of the multi-discipline design firm Derivi Construction & Architecture, Inc., which she co-founded in 1979, based in Stockton, CA. She holds licenses as a contractor and as an architect, as well as being a certified interior designer. She brings with her not only a broad knowledge of practice issues, but also a great deal of energy and dedication to her work.

I look forward to working with Linda, and I would be happy to talk with you about the program and her role should you have any questions. If you would like to get in touch with Linda, please feel free to contact her at lderivi@aiacc.org.
