We look forward every year to the report that the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) publishes all about the percentages and statistics of the profession:NCARB by the Numbers. And, this year is great news. The number of architects in the nation is up 3 percent, and those pursuing the licensure process have never been higher. The profession is seeing some interesting trends in gender equity as well. Nearly two out of every five new architects are women, and women are averaging an entrance into the licensure process 10 months sooner than men. And, 42 percent of new AXP participants identify as a racial or ethnic minority.

As you can see, the numbers are also positive for California. Those completing the licensure process are on par with the National rate of 2.1 years for the ARE and 4.4 for the AXP. For further California insight, click here.
