Mel Ferris
The Mel Ferris Scholarship program provides scholarships to qualified architecture students studying at one of the ten accredited Architecture universities in California. The scholarships are awarded based upon demonstrated financial need, as well as academic and design achievements, and are awarded without regard to race, gender, age, physical abilities or religious beliefs. The scholarships are awarded annually by The California Architectural Foundation. It is the goal of the Foundation Board of Regents to award scholarships to offset tuition expenses.
Savings By Design Energy Conservation Scholarship
Savings By Design recognizes applicants who demonstrate outstanding design integrating energy conservation and renewable energy sources.
Beginning in 2009, the California Architectural Foundation will select outstanding student work that demonstrates serious investigation into alternative energy sources and energy conservation integrated with outstanding design. “Savings by Design”, a statewide program funded by California utility customers and administered by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison Company, Southern California Gas Company and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, is sponsoring these scholarships.
The “Savings by Design” scholarships are a component of the Mel Ferris scholarship program. Students will be selected to receive the “Savings by Design” scholarships by the Mel Ferris Scholarship jury.
This partnership between the California Architectural Foundation and “Savings by Design” illustrates our commitment to the advancement of sustainable communities through support of research and education.
