2011 Merit Award for Interior Architecture

Nestled within the North Beach district of San Francisco, the project is located directly west of Washington Square Park. The space was chosen partly for its adjacencies to nearby community staples like banks, restaurants, and retail stores, but also for its relationship to the park, which became a major design inspiration. Interior details bring the park’s greenery and filtered light into the space, and contrast them with raw and sustainable materials and refined surfaces.
